Yes this elegant hotel really does have it all, with first class services and facilities such as underground parking, lobby bar and free internet in the lobby. Guest rooms benefit from a free mini-bar, daily housekeeping and balcony. The hotel also offers a bicycle rental which is perfect for exploring the city with ease!
The Olympic Port is within perfect proximity to Barceloneta beach, making it a great choice for those after a relaxing beach holiday. This sandy man made beach is rated as one of the top urban beaches in the world, with volleyball courts and water sports such as paddle boarding available. At night, it’s also where you’ll find the city’s best nightclubs, including favourites such as Catwalk, Opium and Shoko. As the clubs don’t get busy here till about 2am, make sure you take advantage of the happy hours at the many beach bars along here. Alternatively, why not catch a movie at the Yelmo VO cinema in Port Olimpic, which shows films in the original language with Spanish subtitles. It’s here you’ll be able to catch Hollywood blockbusters.
Ciutadella Park is also located nearby, and provides a great day out for the whole family. This pretty park has a tranquil boating lake and a stunning fountain, making it the ideal place to enjoy a picnic. If you start to feel restless, why not check out the zoo also located here. The animal enclosures here are built with a moat around them so you’ll feel as if you’re right up close to the animals, without bars and screens separating you. The seal show is also not to be missed, where you’ll see these intelligent sea mammals being fed in return for various tricks. Other highlights include the komodo dragon, brown bear and lions.
Make sure you sample some of the local cuisine during your stay, including the famous iberico ham with some varieties costing more than it’s weight in gold! If you decide to bring some of this delicious ham back, the most economic way to do it is buy a whole leg, which you can slice up for yourself. Another delicacy here is the Catalan chocolate, and you’ll see plenty of chocolatiers trying to tempt you in. For the best variety, try Cacao Sampaka selling unique flavours such as Guiness- black chocolate from Papua New Guinea.
