Enjoy a day at the seaside in Malahide. This stunning costal town just outside of Dublin is a great place to enjoy the local Gaelic culture, through the quaint pubs and boutique shops. Malahide Castle dates back to the 12th century, when Henry II was accompanied to Ireland by a knight called Richard Talbot. Talbot was later given the ‘lands and harbour of Malahide’, and thus the Talbot family legacy began. In fact, it was only in 1973 that the castle was sold to the Irish state. A tour of this fascinating building is highly recommended, where you can learn more about the Talbot family through exhibitions, paintings and the period furniture. At the back of the castle, in the courtyard, is the new Avoca Store and Café. Here you can enjoy seasonal produce whilst looking out over the stunning gardens.

Dublin is a unique city because it offers a coveted blend of old and new to suit all types of travellers. In the cultural quarter of Temple Bar, you’ll wander down cobbled alleys and past medieval buildings as you make your way to the various antique shops, Victorian pubs and quirky cafes. You’ll feel like you’ve journeyed back to a bygone era. And yet, just round the corner you’ll have an array of high street and designer shops at your finger tips, as well as nightclubs such as Club M, Madison Nightclub and Alchemy Club & Venue.

If you’re keen to stretch your legs, then Dublin is also home to some beautiful parks. Phoenix Park stretches over 707 hectares, and is known throughout the world as one of Europe’s most beautiful city parks. This picturesque slice of heaven has been a sanctuary for Fallow Deer, since the Duke of Ormond introduced them here in the 1660’s. If you’re visiting with children, Dublin Zoo is also located here.
