Once upon a time Macclesfield was the biggest producer of finished silk in the world and you can discover more about its incredible history with the silk industry at The Silk Museum. Housed in Paradise Mill, you can get a real sense of what life must have been like for the workers here in the 1930’s and learn more about their working conditions. In association with this museum is the Silk Museum at Park Lane which tells the story of silk from China to the north of England.
