One of the most iconic sights in Barcelona that is popular with locals and tourists all year round is La Rambla. This pedestrianised boulevard is home to a vast number of kiosks, cafes, restaurants and souvenir stores, and the area is also known to host street performers including musicians and mime artists. The name takes its name from raml, meaning ‘seasonal stream’ in Arabic, as the boulevard used to have a stream that ran down what is now the famous strip. Now divided into 5 sections, the Rambla is a popular spot for young Catalans during the evening, as well as tourists enjoying the buzzing atmosphere and superb restaurants. The boulevard is also the meeting point for FC Barcelona fans when the team win a trophy, turning La Rambla into a sea of purple and blue. La Rambla is also home to a fountain that is alleged to stem from the spring water of Canaletes, and it is believed anyone who drinks from the fountain will return to Barcelona in the future!
We hope you have a fantastic time in Barcelona!
