Kos is a stunning island that can be explored by foot with no trouble at all. It’s mainly flat meaning that non serious hikers can easily travel around and see the astonishing natural sights. More serious hikers should not fret as there are two beautiful mountains on Kos Island – Mount Dikaios and Mount Simpetros. The panoramic views of the forests from the peaks are absolutely out of this world – it will be heaven on earth for hiking enthusiasts!

Culture vultures should visit Paleo Pili in Kos Town, an ancient Byzantine fortress. Unless you plan on hiking there you must rent a car, as it is situated at the top of a steep hill in the Pili village. During tourist seasons you could be more adventurous and take a donkey ride up to the fortress. There are astounding views from the fortress that will simply take your breath away. On your way up to the attraction there is a marvellous little chic cafe worth stopping at for a cup of coffee.
